Jeremiah's First Acting Job

Jeremiah's preschool put on a rootin' tootin' cowboy jamboree and boy howdy was it fun. Jeremiah sang a few songs including Buffalo Gals (only in his version it's Buffalo "Cows"). He was up on the stage singing and doing all the dance moves like riding a horse and tippin' his cowboy hat. Where's a reputable agent when you need one? This kid ought be in pictures.

While we were waiting for the children to put on their show we tooled around the "art gallery" and just look at all the wonderful pictures that Jeremiah created!

And here's the picture that the teacher attached to his work. I think the boy needs some modeling lessons.

What's been hoppening?

Where in the world have we been?
Busy, sick, exhausted!

I believe that Jeremiah and I spent all of November through March just sick sick sick. Now that warmer weather is here we are finally coming out of it.

Jeremiah is making great leaps towards reading. He can already read STOP and OREO. Oreo was the first word he read. We were sitting at the breakfast table and I had a box of oreo granola bars on the table.
"Mom what's that? O-R-E-O. What does that say?"
I told him to sound the letters out and he did and then he shouted, "OREO!"
He spends a great deal of his time now sounding out letters when he sees signs.

Jeremiah was in his first play and art show last week - pictures are coming. He was also invited to his first birthday party yesterday with his classmates at preschool. He did very well and played with one girl in particular most of the time. I made sure to talk with her parents and it turns out we live very close to each other and so hopefully we'll get to know them better.

I am going to try and make it a point to update this page a lot more regularly. I have kind of "closed down" my other blogs so that I can devote more time to my family and to this page because.....

WE ARE ADOPTING ANOTHER BABY!!!!!!!!

We are going to have another little boy and he is due on September 15 (just 4 days before Jeremiah's birthday).
We are quite busy getting ready for the homestudy and I am trying to get the garage in order (that means garage sale) because it's the last place left in the house that has zero organization to it.
I'd also like to paint two of our bedrooms and get our yard together. We have a large yard which requires a great deal of care, none of which I'll be able to do come fall.

I'll be doing a lot of travelling in the meantime - NY, NC, MD, PA and so my time to spend online is very limited at the moment.

I can't believe I'm going to have another boy!

Next post will be pictures of Jeremiah's play and art show.

I've Never Swabbed The Poop Deck

We had a pretty fun day and it needs to be documented!

We started out going to Sine - this great Irish Pub in Shockoe Slip. I had an omelet which wasn't bad but next time I'm definitely having the fish and chips. We celebrated RaRa's birthday with sugar free cookies and some sass. We were all floored when Jeremiah said, "I need some whiskey."

Wow...that kid has spunk!

Jeremiah fell asleep in the car while we drove around Carytown looking at the neat buildings and shops.

Then we went to the movie theatre and Jeremiah saw his first movie on the big screen!

He was very good through the movie (in fact all the children in the theatre were). Jeremiah was scared of the "cheese curls" and "rock monster" but he liked the pirates and if you were sitting right next to us you probably heard a lot of "Aargh!"

I myself was slightly disappointed because I love the theme song "The Pirates That Don't Do Anything" and they didn't play the song until the very end of the movie and then they cut it short and went into a different song.

We saved Jeremiah's ticket to put into a scrapbook so that he'll always remember his first trip to the movie's!

Christmas 2007

Our routine changed slightly this year which I think was a good thing. The past two years we weren't able to really enjoy seeing Jeremiah open his gifts because we were trying to open our own at the same time.
This time the adults opened their gifts on Christmas Eve, so Christmas morning was dedicated to watching "The Baby" (we still had our stockings to go through on Christmas morning).

I hope we continue this way until Jeremiah is a little bit older and can understand how each person opens a gift and then the next person and so on until there's only one person left on Present Island.

Dinner was yummy however I got sick and was unable to participate in the new tradition of playing Facts In Five.

Things seemed simpler this year and I really liked that. There was only one thing we didn't get to do that I missed and that was our afternoon walk through Colonial Williamsburg. We'll always have next year, Lord willing.

Life Is Beachy

This is the summer of vacation and next on our stop is the beach!
I don't have many pictures because we were busy living life and soaking up that great salt air...but here are a few cute ones...

Can you believe I have to shave my 2 yr old?

Here we are being knocked about by the waves. You can see he's having fun but he just wouldn't look at the camera long enough for me to get a face shot!

We found my dream car and of course it was at the beach, that's just a little too perfect.

Look at him, now look in the background. Coincidence?

I guess the dog found the Corona too!

Aunt P, I know it's your birthday but do you think that present could be for me?

No words to describe...
